In the middle of April, the metaCCAZE project participated in the Cyprus Forum Cities, Cyprus’s largest local government conference, bringing together experts from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society. Its goal is to foster high-level discussions that lead to a comprehensive, long-term strategic plan for urban and rural development on the island. With a strong emphasis on climate neutrality, the conference aims to engage all local authorities in Cyprus to drive positive change and strengthen the relationships between local governments and citizens. This year’s conference addressed local reform, waste management challenges, urban planning, digital transformation, and the upcoming EU elections.
One session focused on metaCCAZE, showcasing Limassol’s new mobility service. Titled “Towards net zero mobility in Limassol: an on-demand mobility service to replace private cars”, the session introduced the new on-demand service, the technology behind it, its goals, and its three phases involving students, commuters, and tourists. It highlighted the importance of gathering input from various potential users to ensure the service meets their needs and standards.
