Miskolc is the 4th most populous city of Hungary with a population of 160.000. While the main transport mode is the private car, the municipality intends to decrease its usage by encouraging multimodal trips. The City of Miskolc is indeed part of the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission and is committed to enable the realisation of an intelligent and sustainable transportation system.
As part of the metaCCAZE project, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the company HC Linear Ltd, and the Miskolc Urban Transport Agency recently met with the municipality of Miskolc and discussed how the project can support advancements in public transport and micromobility solutions.
All participants will collaborate in a living lab, meaning an open innovation ecosystem, in which mobility solutions will be designed, tested and evaluated in a real-life environments using iterative feedback processes. This living lab in Miskolc will feature a multimodal information point where citizens can receive detailed information about transport connections and potential CO2 emissions reductions. This initiative is designed to enhance public awareness and facilitate the transition to more sustainable modes of transportation.
The discussion also focused on evaluating current opportunities and outlining the next steps to achieve the living lab’s goals. The collaborative approach aims to ensure that the initiatives align with the city’s broader vision of sustainable urban development.
